Actress Roma Downey has had a vibrant career in Hollywood, but her life hasn’t always been easy. She experienced the devastating loss of her mother when she was 10 years old and she found herself struggling in the entertainment industry when she moved to the United States.

Downey, skyrocketed to success in the CBS’ series, “Touched By an Angel” — which ran from 1994 to 2003. Downey stated that she found a friend, mentor and “second mother” in the late Della Reese, who also starred in “Touched by an Angel”. They developed a strong bond that helped Downey fill the void from loss of her mother.

Downey, has a new book, Box of Butterflies: Discovering the Unexpected Blessings All Around Us. In her book she shares her triumphs, struggles, the losses and longings of her heart. She believes God has always been present to guide her path, regardless of what she has faced.

She makes an effort to live her life “in gratitude” and is very “interested in people” and how human beings can “show up for one another” and offer support.

Downy feels that love, kindness and grace is essential at all levels of society whether it’s in our politics or on social media. .
