Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir To Release New Album

The six-time Grammy Award-winning Brooklyn Tabernacle will release its 30th choir album, titled I Am Reminded on April 6, 2018.

The 11 track new album, I Am Reminded will be a combination of original songs as well as songs that the choir enjoys singing at their church located in New York. One of the cover songs selected for the new album is the classic song, “Thank You” written by Walter Hawkins.

The five original songs on the track were written by the choir’s instructor, Carol Cymbala, and various members of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church’s music department.

Carol Cymbala (wife of The Brooklyn Tabernacle Church’s Senior Pastor Jim Cymbala, and daughter of the church founder, the late Pastor Clair Hutchins) founded the 300-voice choir with only eight members in 1973. They have recorded over 200 songs to date. It consists of members from various ethnic and economic backgrounds ranging from lawyers and doctors to former addicts.

Throughout their musical career, the choir has sold over four million albums.

The Brooklyn Tabernacle, is pastored by Brooklyn native Jim Cymbala. He is a best-selling author and according to the New York Times, has been the pastor of the multi-racial megachurch, since 1971.When he began serving the church, membership numbered about 20 persons. The church has approximately 10,000 members.
